Final labyrinth-1-8 scale

Construction Drawing by Ron Holloway

With a view of the Pacific Ocean the Alta Vista Gardens Labyrinth shall be built around a granite sculpture.

The Board has directed that the Garden shall proceed with the construction of a Five Circuit Labyrinth. The Labyrinth shall be built around the ‘Broken Link’ sculpture by Tony Imatto. It is to be located on the leading south west corner of the upper plateau of AVG. Board member Ivy Bodin has generously agreed to donate $1000 to purchase the plants that will be installed in and around the Labyrinth.

What is a Labyrinth?
A labyrinth is a single path or unicursal tool for personal, psychological and spiritual transformation. Labyrinths are thought to enhance right brain activity. The Classical Five Circuit Labyrinth in this example shows that you enter a labyrinth through the mouth and then walk on the paths or circuits. The walls keep you on the path. The goal is in the center of the labyrinth. When you reach it, you have gone half the distance – you now need to turn around and walk back out.
