Recycled Art Classes for Children with Djana Venolia

Nature + Ecology + Art = Recycled Art for Kids in the Garden

Let’s explore the Children’s Garden and connect with nature through art.

We will use collected recyclables, found material and mix with fine art to make incredible artwork, musical instruments, costumes and much, much more.

Experience true hands-on art using creativity and have a fun time too!

Every class will be based on an exciting technique: from watercolor to acrylic on canvas, from mosaic to papier-mâché, from ceramic to sculpture.  We won’t stop there.

• Parents and grandparents are welcome.
• An exhibit of participants’ creations will be available at the end of every class.
• Join us for a potluck after class with healthful food for a relaxing snack/lunch among the families.

Where: Alta Vista Gardens in Brengle Terrace Park – Bugs, Birds & Butterflies Children’s Garden

Programs Offered:

Recycled Art @ The Garden (Third Saturday of the month)

• When: Every third Saturday of the month (8/21, 9/18, 10/16, 11/20 and 12/18).
• Time: 10 am to 11:30 am.
• Price: $10/child AVG nonmembers and $8/child AVG members.
• Note: This is a family activity, therefore an adult presence is requires with every child.

Fine Art Classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

• When: Tuesdays and Thursdays (from 8/24/2010 until 6/2/2011).
• Time: 4 pm to 5:30 am.
• Price: Punch Card or Drop-in. Each child must have his or her own Punch Card. 5 classes card $36 or 10 classes card $70. Drop-in $10. An additional Processing Fee of $10/child each 3 months.
• Note: This is not a family activity. No adult presence is required. Volunteers welcome.

Ecology Camp @ The Garden (Fall)

• When: Every day from 11/22 until 11/26. (5 days)
• Time: 9 am to noon.
• Price: $120/child AVG nonmembers and $110/child AVG members. Material Fee of $15/child due to instructor at the first day of camp. A healthy snack will be provided daily. Children must bring a bottle of water every day.
• Minimum of 5 children and Maximum of 12.
• Note: This is not a family activity. No adult presence is required. Volunteers welcome.

Holliday Camp @ The Garden

• When: Every day from 12/20 until 12/23. (4 days)
• Time: 9 am to noon.
• Price: $96/child AVG nonmembers and $90/child AVG members. Material Fee of $15/child due to instructor at the first day of camp. A healthy snack will be provided daily. Children must bring a bottle of water every day.
• Minimum of 5 children and Maximum of 12.
• Note: This is not a family activity. No adult presence is required. Volunteers welcome.

Topics: Fine Art (watercolor, oil pastel, acrylic on canvas, collage), 3-D Media (mosaic, glass, papier-mâché, ceramic, sculpture), Music Making (instruments creation), Literature (writing composition, layout, Illustration), Puppetry (making and acting), and more.
